The Character Transformation Project
The Character Transformation Project of Zone 6 with RC Pasig and RC Pasig West as co-leads, was launched at the University of Asia and the Pacific last November 21, 2014. The symposium featured presentations by Mr. Emmanuel Rentoy entitled: "The Urgency of Character Formation: The Legacy of Character and Professionalism". The attendees, who are also going to be the initial beneficiaries of the project, were the Faculty and administrative Staff of the Rizal High School. Representatives from the different Rotary Clubs of ONE Pasig were also present in the event. The Project is a joint initiative between the Rotary Clubs of ONE Pasig, Character Education Partnership Philippines (CEP), and Rizal High School. < READ MORE>

This program is aimed at
mobilizing school administrators, teachers and parents to initiate activities
that will push character formation, thereby, setting values education as one
primary force to power improvement initiatives in the role of the school.
The program is to be
conducted in partnership with Character Education Partnership Philippines (CEP
Phils), which is an international affiliate of CEP based in Washington DC, USA
(see www.character.org) and the
Department of Education & Sports, Republic of the Philippines.
In general, the
project is an allied effort to arouse interest in addressing today’s imminent
threats to society such as corruption, crime, moral decadence and other social
malaise spawned by low morals, values or ethics that springs from a weak
character foundation.
In particular,
the project will encourage schools (both public and private) not only to
address academic concerns but also
recognize the immediate need to act on moral, social, emotional and ethical
issues that affect the lives of the thousands of students and parents that
count on the school as an institution of character formation.
Foremost to be
addressed are the mounting challenge to provide effective solutions to
ethical and academic issues in schools such as bullying, cheating, truancy, and
dropout rates and the building of a moral community.
As a Rotary
project, it is intended to promote Rotary’s “The 4-Way Test” and “Core Values”
in coordination with the ongoing program of CEP Philippines engaged in the
training of teachers to become effective agents of character transformation of
students and parents.
1. Teacher Training
2. Recognition of Best Practices
3. Recognition of Schools of Character
All three tasks are geared toward:
1.
Helping Teachers become effective agents of character of transformation
2.
Helping Schools become better agents of character transformation
3. Helping Students
to become men and women of character
