Greetings to all members of the Rotary Club of Pasig West on the occasion of its 18th Induction and Handover Ceremonies!
The Rotary year 2014-2015 has now drawn to a close, and it is my pleasure to offer my deepest gratitude to everyone who has contributed to a very successtul year.
It has truly been a challenging but productive year for RCPW. It is with great pride that I make special mention that several project initiatives of the club have been given official recognition and awards, a testament that the club has certainly made its mark in District 3800 this year. All these achievements could not have been possible if not for the tireless efforts and support of all our members.
I would also like to give a very special thanks to my Governor, DG Marilou Co, a true leader who certainly epitomized the "Light Up Rotary" theme, and has provided all of us the needed motivation and inspiration to achieve our goals.
And to all my BCP Classmates, I also give my thanks not just for the support but also for all the fun and camaraderie.
There are certainly still more challenges ahead, but under the able leadership of our new World Class President Fermin M. Diaz, RCPW will undoubtedly continue on its journey of service in the spirit of "Bayanihan"

World Polio Day
The Rotary International established World Polio Day more than ten years ago. This was to commemorate the birth of Jonas Salk, who was responsible in leading the first team to develop a vaccine against poliomyelitis.
The use of this vaccine developed by Salk paved the way for the development and subsequent widespread use of the oral poliovirus, developed by Albert Sabin. These breakthroughs led to the establishment of the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI) in 1988 which has been responsible for the reduction of polio worldwide by 99%.
The Philippines was one of the first beneficiaries of this campaign when Sergio Mulitsch di Palmenberg (1923–1987), Governor of RI District 204 (1984–1985), founder of the RC of Treviglio and Pianura Bergamasca (Italy), inspired and promoted the RI PolioPlus vaccination campaign and made it possible to ship the first 500,000 doses of antipolio vaccine to the Philippines at the beginning of 1980.
The Rotary Foundation
The Rotary Foundation is a not-for-profit corporation that supports the efforts of Rotary International to achieve world understanding and peace through international humanitarian, educational, and cultural exchange programs. It is supported solely by voluntary contributions from Rotarians and friends of the Foundation who share its vision of a better world. The Foundation was created in 1917 by Rotary International's sixth president, Arch C. Klumph, as an endowment fund for Rotary "to do good in the world." It has grown from an initial contribution of US$26.50 only to more than US$55 million. It is one of the largest and most prestigious international fellowship programs in the world.
